Ward Walk and 'Our Area Matters'

April 21, 2010 11:28 PM

Liz, Keith and Adrian recently completed another of their regular 'ward walks' to monitor progress on issues raised by residents. These included fly-tipping, rubbish dumping, cars being broken up in public streets, derelict sites being neglected by absent owners - and garden rubbish outside houses with multiple occupations.

A derelict site in Howard Road has been cleared and tidied - and fly-tipped rubbish and old beds have been cleared from Trumpington Road. See the 'before and after' photos to the left and then above to the right.

The Focus Team and council officers ran the 'Our Area Matters' action programme in late March, clearing up the mess left by envirocriminals. Abandoned cars were removed, rubbish was cleared and some landlords were contacted about tenants' anti-social behaviour.

Where there is strong evidence of crime, prosecutions will follow. Focus will continue to lead the fight against envirocrime. Local people are proud of their houses, streets and area. The name of the action programme -'Our Area Matters' - is absolutely right, so let's beat enviro-crime together.
